I love making washcloths and dishcloths
but could not find a dishcloth cotton that did not hurt my hands. One day while browsing sweaters in a thrift store, I couldn't help but notice the amount of yarn that could be reclaimed from a cotton sweater. I bought a cotton sweater, unraveled it, plyed it on my spinning wheel back together with a bit of nylon for strength and — VOILA! Recycled dishcloth cotton! After plying the yarn, I boiled the skein to shrink it to the maximum and remove any sizing. The yarn is appromaxily a worted weight, but you should knit a swatch to be sure of your gauge (which usually isn't important with dishcloths). It has a nice scrubby feeling (great for scrubbing dishes or exfoliating skin), and there are a few knots, but isn't stiff and hard on the hands like dishcloth cotton. (Smoke Free — Pet Free Home) |

If you are interested in any of the yarn, please send me an email with your shipping address.
I will use your zip code and weight of yarn to calculate the shipping charge. I will gladly wind your skein into a center pull-out ball but shipping will be cheaper if I can ship it as a skein in an envelope. |
